Another tragic loss for Ally (& donation options toward burial)
Hi friends,
Our new Creator friend, Ally Oredi tragically lost another son - just weeks after his first loss! Ally and his family, like Pastor Emillie and her family are originally from Congo. He, and more recently his wife and daughter, have been attending Creator since May, and Ally is hopeful for bringing his garden project to Creator soon. ('Farmland Produce Distribution Project', offering African immigrants an opportunity to grow African produce.) Following the car accident death a few weeks ago was of a young man, Ibrahim that Ally raised like a son, this week’s drowning was Ally’s 25-year old actual son, Mulette Ally. His family is in shock, as Mulette went often to swim at this spot on the Columbia River. (Both were friends of Anelise as well. ) Pastor Emillie spent several hours with the family yesterday, and will preside at the funeral which will likely be on Saturday, Sept 9th, but the location is still to be determined. Last time I spoke with Ally, they were still trying to raise funds for Ibrahim’s burial, so they are obviously feeling overwhelmed financially with raising funds for Mulette’s burial now ($8000 is avg burial cost in Portland) there is a GoFundMe set up, linked below, but some prefer giving more directly. If we are able to raise $1000- $2000 through our Creator SOS rent/household relief fund, we could send a large check to the family directly. (We send $1000 from the fund toward Ibrahim’s burial a couple weeks ago.) GoFundMe Creator’s SOS household relief If you’d like to send a card (or direct donation), Ally Oradi & Family's address- 8957 N Woolsey Ave, Portland, OR 97203. In sadness and gratitude for community, Debi |
