Serving
Creator partners with other groups in the area in multiple endeavors to provide service and help our community.
Hosting quarterly blood drives with the American Red Cross and/or walking as a team in Light the Night for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society are other ways we work with the community. Hunger
Creator works to ease the burden of people in our community who might otherwise go hungry. The first Thursday of every month our members cook in our kitchen a hot meal for Our Father's Heart Street Ministry. This meal feeds 100 homeless people. We furnish a hot main dish, salad, bananas and cookies. During the pandemic this is transferred to the Ministry for a to go meal. At this time we also cook for the Clackamas Veterans Village. We supply the same hot meal for their community kitchen to feed the Veterans on site. We also provide desserts once a month Our congregation each month supplies food and other household items to our SOS families from the Lot Whitcomb grade school. We shop each month ensuring that these children and families get extra food in the way of fresh produce, dairy and food items to make nutritious meals. During the pandemic it has been critical for these families to receive extra food as the children are not in school each day. As a congregation we have been involved with the Oregon Food Bank through our giving of food items for Kings Cupboard. There are many opportunities to be involved with our hunger programs as we are continually adding to our giving. BackPack Buddies
The Backpack Buddies program provides weekend food for children at local elementary schools who are at risk of going hungry on the weekends. Creator helps raise money for this program with a yearly fundraiser in addition to individual donations. Volunteer shoppers give of their time to shop for the meals. The Boy Scouts of Troop 611 pack up the lunches and volunteers deliver them on Wednesdays for distribution to the students. ❤ Creator Answers The Call Again ❤
North Clackamas schools reached out to Creator to help support the Backpack Buddy program. Details. King's Cupboard
Creator partners with King of Kings, another local ELCA congregation, in supplying food for the pantry that King of Kings runs. King’s Cupboard is committed to feeding our neighbors as all of us are able. King of Kings works under the guidance of the Oregon Food Bank to continue to obtain supplies and use safe procedures for distribution. After the pandemic is over Creator will resume our food contributions to the pantry. Other Community Services
The Clackamas Bookshelf
The Clackamas Bookshelf provides free books to low-income children in Clackamas County, with the understanding that widespread access to books offers positive, long-term benefits to our entire community.
We support this mission by donating new or used books. In addition to donating books, there is an opportunity to shop at the book store. The book sales are on Sundays by appointment. You can make an appointment to shop in a Covid-safe environment. The Clackamas Bookshelf needs your books! Use the Contact form to the right to arrange a time to coordinate getting your donated books to The Clackamas Bookshelf or to make an appointment to shop there. Gently used books for all ages are welcome—kid’s books go to students, adult books are sold to help fund the bookshelf. Clean out those extra books and share the gift of reading with kids. Support their mission by purchasing books at their monthly sale. Normally, adult books are 50 cents each, children's books are 25 cents. Every dollar spent provides a book for a child who needs one.
